Master Ettore Soffritti with his pupil Anselmo Gotti in 1922
Ettore Soffritti ( Ferrara 1877-1928)
He was son and pupil of the great Ferrara violin maker Luigi Soffritti. He made his first violin at the tender age of eight and opened his own workshop at the age of 15. He won several awards, each original instrument he made is a real piece of art and he's considered one of the best Italian violin makers from 20th century.
Anselmo Gotti ( Pieve di Cento (Ferrara)* 1902- Ferrara 1962)
He was son and pupil of the great Ferrara violin maker Orsolo Gotti. He started his career in young age, when his father sent him into apprenticeship with the already famous Ettore Soffritti. Some of his instruments from the 30's can be easily mistaken for Soffritti's works, but later he modified his models, developing his own style.
* Pieve di Cento fino al 1929 era nella provincia di Ferrara.
